MONTCLAIR

Tuesday December 21st

• WHERE:

Crane Park in Montclair Center, at 6:00pm   MAP

• WHAT:

A luminous soundscape played by the audience on Bluetooth speakers or boomboxes carried through the quieter streets of downtown Montclair. It is a celebration of the season, community and joy somewhat like caroling but profoundly immersive and inclusive of everyone.

This event is FREE and open to EVERYONE of ALL AGES!. You don't need a Bluetooth speaker or boombox if you don't have one, we want you here!

• HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?

Easy. Bring a speaker (we recommend something other than your phone, for volume's sake), and one of the four tracks from the website

At about 6:15 at the count of three, everyone presses play!

Blinky lights and glow sticks are highly encouraged!  We will be joined by slow rolling cyclists from Bike Walk Montclair who will have their bikes decked out with lights!

• WHAT MAKES THIS SO WONDERFUL?

The fact that the participants play different "parts" simultaneously helps create the special sound of the piece. Participants carry Bluetooth speakers, boomboxes, or anything that amplifies music, and simultaneously start playing the music. They then walk a carefully chosen route through their city’s streets, creating a unique mobile sound sculpture which is different from every listener's perspective.

• ALSO!

Montclair has a number of musical events happening throughout the day as part of Montclair Make Music Winter 2021!
